Thursday nights beer ride was not the best for ol' Freddie. At a nice, busy intersection, on the way to the Red Door West, Ivan thought we were turning right...we weren't. Next thing I see is Fred doing a no-handed hand-stand on his face, feet pointing straight up in the air. T-roy and I rally and pull Ivan and Fred out of the road. Once we knew they were ok, it became quite funny. We a block and climb back on our bikes to roll down the hill to the bar. I ride on Fred's wheel and watch him bounce off a small wall, then a telephon pole, keeping his bike up-right and laughing. At the Red Door, he's a mess. The waitress brings a bag of ice and never lets his glass go half empty. The numbing effect of the beer put him in a good place, and Ivan picked up the tab. Libby, Fred's wife, arrives...and let's just say that if you are married, you understand.

The moral of this story: Wear yer helmet! This was a total accident. It could have happened to anyone. Ivan made a right turn in to Fred and launched him into the pavement. I saw Fred's helmet last night and it's smashed. If he wasn't wearing it, we would have been spending time in the ER instead of beer and pizza at the bar.

Friday was fun, but saturday was the day.
